Bon Accord, Aberdeen teamed up with society magazine and our boots beauty crew to inspire you with some current trending makeup looks to encourage you to add a pop of colour to your daily make-up routine! Our team also answered some of key questions to around current makeup trends for spring 2022:
HOW CAN I MAKE A STATEMENT WITH MY EYE MAKE-UP?
The model featured is wearing bright negative space liner; this is a huge trend at the moment and involves using a bright pop of colour around the eye, leaving plenty of blank space on the lid. This is great for framing the eyes and any bright, highly pigmented colour works well for this look.
Another trend to accompany this eye look is to pair it with detailed or fluffy brows as this helps to accentuate the eye area and tie the look together.
IS HEAVY BLUSH ON TREND?
Yes! The 80’s blush trend is making a comeback. This look involves draping blush from the temples down to the cheekbones to frame the face, almost like a contour. It may seem intimidating, but it's easy to achieve and, if you use the right shade for your skin tone, the results are adorable.
Heavy blush is also popular among the younger generation E-boys and E-girls (a term coined by active internet users who are typically into anime) for a beauty look that is mainly inspired by anime and K-Pop. They typically use a lot of blush over their cheeks and the nose to create a 'cute' look.
WHAT DOES A STATEMENT LIP LOOK LIKE IN 2022?
The current lipstick trends are metallic shades and subtle nudes. Metallics are great for an evening look, while a nude lip works well for everyday wear.
It is important to note that, as with most statement make-up looks, usually you only use one statement item at a time. Take this bright coloured look for example; since the client wanted the pop of colour around her eyes, in line with the current trend, everything else on the face is toned down to create a bold, yet classy, result.
DO YOU NEED TO USE A LOT OF PRODUCTS FOR FULLGLAM?
No. In many cases, less is more when it comes to full glam makeup; it's all about the placement of your products. For example, eyeliner designs formed with bright, or metallic, pigments can create seriously impactful looks, with minimal product.
